About Soaring Spirits
Soaring Spirits Paddle Company is a small, non-profit paddle
school, run by Greenland-style kayaker,
 Alison Sigethy.

The goal of Soaring Spirits is to introduce the joy, freedom,
and independence of paddling to people with disabilities.

We offer a variety of programs in three categories: paddling
instruction, kayak building, and instructor certification. All
classes are offered in Northern Virginia, but out-of-town
classes and workshops are a possibility. If you are interested
in setting something up in your area, email Alison at
alison@GoingToGreenland.com or

NOTE: We are actively seeking funding to set up
scholarships for disabled veterans who want to
take the 2-week kayak building class. Full tuition
for this class is $1,300 and includes all materials.

Contributions in any amount are welcome.
All contributions are tax deductible.
Kayak building classes are offer through our
partner, the
Alexandria Seaport Foundation.
Kayak building and Instructor workshops are offered in the
spring and fall. On-water paddling classes are offered May-
September.

The instructor certification classes are appropriate for any type
of paddle sport. Our paddling and kayak building classes are
taught using Greenland paddles and we build Greenland style
kayaks. This is because Greenland paddles and kayaks are
made for the individual paddler. Using equipment that truly fits,
make paddling easier and more enjoyable.

Classes we offer:
Of Course You Can Learn to Kayak!
Of Course You Can Build your Own Kayak!
ACA Adaptive Paddling Workshop (for all kayakers who
want to teach paddling to people with disabilities.)

(Note: There will be fewer classes offered in 2008 because
Alison will be kayaking with the
Arctic Voice Expedition from
July through September.)

Water is the ultimate equalizer. Few, if any, sports are easier
to adapt for people with disabilities than paddle sports. If you,
or someone you know, would like to experience the thrill of
moving swiftly and effortlessly through the water, please send
them this link.

Paddling is a wonderful sport that can truly change your life.
Spread the joy.
